What I Did Over My Long Weekend

This is a delayed update on my long weekend and what I got accomplished. Not only did I have Monday off for Memorial Day (like almost everyone else) but I had Friday off with almost 5 hours all to myself.

Since it isn’t often I get that many silent (no kids) hours to do whatever I want, I decided to focus on rewriting my eHow articles for Info Barrel. I was able to get 3 articles completely rewritten and submitted to Info Barrel and also submitted my author RSS feed to aggregators using RSSbot. A faster writer could have done a lot more, but that’s pretty good for me. That gives me 4 articles total on Info Barrel (some with in-text links to my niche sites) – now I’ll just watch to see what happens.

I also got my niche site #13 set up. This is a niche that I was already in (#1) but I found a much better keyword domain. My plain is to mostly rewrite the articles from niche site #1 and post them on this new site. Right now I just have a homepage and am still waiting to get indexed in Google. I just wrote up an about page (since the niche is a topic I have experience in), I’ll get that posted and then I’ll let the site sit until I have time for it. Since the domain is perfect for the sniper approach, I may follow that framework just to start and see what happens and then add more articles later when I finally have the time. Not sure yet.

The last thing I did was finally get SocialBot set up. I’ve had the program for a few months but haven’t had the time to get all the accounts set up, so I did that, did some test runs, refined the submit list and started submitting some of my feeder sites (sites that link to my niche sites) and my eHow articles. The program hasn’t turned out to be as good as I had hoped after failed signups and other issues, but I think I am submitting to about 15 sites with dofollow links. Not a big number but it is still 15 links added a lot faster than I could do, so that is still nice.

Now I am trying to decide what to focus on next. My main focus is still niche site #6 since that is at the top of page 2 of Google for my main keyword. If I could get on page 1 I would be very happy and hopefully start seeing a lot more adsense income. If I had more income, I could do some more outsourcing and push my other sites along. Basically, I need to sit down with my budget and come up with a solid plan for the next month or so. I’m also figuring I’ll have less time to spend online since it is almost summer and I’ll be out and about with my family.

Well, that was my long weekend. I’m feeling pretty good about the recent progress I have made but yet a little bit of frustration creeps in when I look at my earnings. That seems to be the way things go with me and IM. Some days I feel extremely optimistic and other days I feel like I’m spinning my wheels. Plus, I usually have a bunch of ideas floating in my head and no time to do them all. I really look forward to doing this full-time!
