Time to Update
Wow, I haven’t posted in a very long time! I was actually thinking of getting rid of this blog or converting it to something more general, but I think I will try again to document my IM progress here. If anything it helps keep me motivated and it’s nice to meet new IM friends.
The bad part of my update is that for the latter half of last year I did not do much with regards to my sites. I got sorta burnt out on the whole thing for awhile and just couldn’t motivate. But I have the bug again and have been dreaming about rankings and building backlinks. That’s good EXCEPT, I really should be writing.
The more I write, the more real estate I would own, and the bigger my potential to earn. But I have to be honest and say I don’t enjoy writing that much. I would much rather be researching keywords and building backlinks. So for now I am not pushing myself with writing and that is because…I will be laid off in March and will be able to do IM full-time. This is good news and what I really wanted.
It’s hard to believe that I started over a year ago building niche sites. I have learned alot but have also made a ton of mistakes. I think my plans are a bit more focused now, but the IM scene (especially the ever-fickle Google) changes so often that I do rethink things alot. I also like trying new things out which can either turn out well or just leave me distracted.
But for right now, until I can devote my full attention to stuff, I am just playing around a bit. Almost all of my adsense income still comes from my personal site that I built in 2005 (and it’s not a big earner) but my main niche site is coming along. It was on Page 1 of Google for awhile and bringing in some extra clicks but alas has fallen back to Page 2/3 again, probably because I have added some backlinks.
I did finally make some sales at Clickbank! I had given up on the few sniper sites I made awhile back but one of them is finally bringing in some sales. And my eHow earnings aren’t bad considering the number of articles I have there. The bulk of my earnings come from just one lucky article.
So I am off to update my earnings page and get a few other things done. Hopefully I’ll post again

Hi Carrie,
If that article is workign for you then how about you try and replicate that success? You obviously know all the basics, I guess you all you need to do now is take some action.
Good luck
Zaheer
Hi Carrie. Its a great feeling to get that “bug” back after being burned out. It is so easy to get burned out. I can feel it myself even know but I know that all the hard work I put in now, will pay off in months to come.
That’s also great news about your hubs. I make a whopping $1.50 a day off my 120 or so hubs. lol
Zaheer – thanks!
Sara – yeah, it’s good to have the bug but I wish the swings didn’t feel so extreme. Either I’m completely burnt out or I can’t stop my mind from racing thinking about the next site, backlink, etc. Once I’m FT I’m gonna work on a more structured schedule to feel a bit more in control.
Nice to see you back. I know about the burnt out feeling too. Sorry about your job but also, congrats! LOL I sometimes wish the same thing would happen to me so I could focus on IM 100%.
Have you thought about outsourcing the writing? I don’t like that either. The writers at Burn Your To Do List have turned out to be great so far.
Yes, I would like to outsource the writing, but my budget is so small that it’s difficult. I’m very picky about the writing on my sites so I never do well with ESL writers but native English writers are too pricey. I need to find a happy medium.
BYTDL looks nice, but still too much money for me.
