Nice - good to see it's not just me. Had a site that I promo'd with strong UAW runs set at...50...hm. Went from page 3-4 to Pluto (or was it a black hole?), only to come back 5 days on page 1 of G and 2 of B...weird. Now I'm high page 2, and stopped checking.

Taking MikeMan's advice (mikeiser.com, is it?) I've concentrated on building and letting the chips fall where they fall. Hopefully following his advice I can build quickly, do as little article marketing as possible, and have so many sites I can't tell or care if the others are doing a thing.

My plan is to build-build-build, then review, and in between stop checking the rankings. It's obsessive for me - can't control their rankings, have to keep building for now (doing AdSense strictly).

I'll put up aff links to physical products as they rank, but not until (otherwise I check Commission Junction and Clickbank, AdSense, pingbacks...email...get very little work done that way).

Love the blog!

You're right about that - you really have to get buying keywords for it to work. I have a lot of domains that are not focused and I am even #1 but no sales. There are only 2 of the 8 or so I have that have made money.

I don't like wasting money either! I do reinvest every penny I have made into expenses for this venture. I just worked on my budget a little and I am actually ahead for the year even though I have spent quite a bit LOL

@WCG

Yeah, I have a site or two I've thought about flipping, but I don't think they are worth the hassle. Eventually I think I will move the articles over to Hubpages or Info Barrel with some re-keywording to see if I can get anything out of them.

@Sara

My problem is that I am frugal. I HATE wasting money, but I know it is all part of the learning process.

I do have one sniper-like site but overall I'm not that impressed by that method. Look at how many sites Mike I. has built - he should be rolling in the dough, but he's not. I realize Mike is doing alot better than me, but his profit does not live up to the claims of the WSO. But, that method did help me a little bit with understanding competition.

Just remember it's a learning process and you will spend time and money as you become more comfortable with various methods. I agree the keyword research was a lacking in TNB but I've realized that you are really building "authority" sites over there and those are a slower process. If you want to just to page 1 fast, you have to be brutal on keyword research. There are several domains that are going bye-bye for me that I never built anything on. Live and learn, I guess! The Google Sniper method is really about finding those gems. You can apply the method to not just Clickbank but Amazon, Adsense or whatever else. I did the KWA trial and forgot to cancel it so I am a member at the moment LOL I need to get back in there and make sure I catch everything before I cancel. I don't need another monthly membership at the moment but I agree after watching the videos there that you get more about keyword research.

I understand how hard it is to ignore those rankings! Well, it seems like you've been thinking hard and developed a plan for yourself. I haven't yet developed a solid plan. I think I also have problem with the keywords too. The first few months at the Niche Blogger have recently been revamped so I'm thinking there may be more solid keyword picking info now. I might cut my losses with some sites and try to flip them - really not sure, though, since they obviously cost me a lot of time in the first place.
