Niche Site Update – Ranking Flux
So my site that was at #16 (page 2) in Google yesterday is now at #25 (page 3) today for the main keyword. I expected that and was almost scared to look, but at least it didn’t fall back to page 4. Yesterday while it was at #16, it got more traffic than I have seen before (not much by most standards, though) and earned $1.60 in Adsense, so that is still encouraging. Now I just need to get it on the first page.
I worked on a few more backlinks last night, but quality more than quantity. Most of my time was spent looking for forums related to my niche to get some more relevant backlinks. I don’t think that is absolutely necessary, but I think it can help and I needed a break from the usual.
I am also trying to diversify a bit and purchased a video creation from someone on the Warrior Forum. It cost $10 for a 30 second video and the price includes submission to at least 5 video sites. In my backlinking effort I have noticed that many of the social media sites have special link or upload areas for videos, so I can use the video there also.
I still need to find someone to work on content. Everytime I seem to find someone or a service, something goes wrong. I don’t want to spend much on content at this point (as that will eat up my budget too quickly) but the time lost on issues with the lower priced options I have tried is getting frustrating. Since I already have about a month or two’s worth of posts in que on this particular site I have a little bit of time to work this out.
At some point I want to branch out on my posts here into my general theme of working towards home. Creating niche sites for online income is my main focus right now, but there are other areas that I need to work on like budgeting and cost savings. Unfortunately, my brain can only handle so much while I am still working full-time…

Have you looked at which keywords you are getting traffic for? You might be getting traffic from longer tail kw. If you are #16 on page 2 I’m surprised you got over $1 in Adsense! That is good. I made $1.07 in Adsense yesterday which is unusual and I’m at #7 for my first TNB site (used to be #1 though and never made that much in Adsense).
Sara – why didn’t I think of that? Duh.
Turns out my traffic that day was from Stumble. I must have stumbled a post and completely forgot about it. So it turns out being on page 2 for my KW had nothing to do with the traffic and adsense. Shucks!
Carrie, as far as content writing goes, it seems like finding something cheaper than $4.00 an article is hard to come by. Not sure how much you were looking to spend on content but Heather on TNB does outstanding work and she charges $40 for 10 articles. I paid her a little extra to make them 400 word articles and she even went over on some, close to 500 without charging more than the agreed upon price.
I know on the warrior forum I read a few posts on people outsourcing to the Philippines. Not sure how to go about finding someone in the Philippines though.
Thanks Sara.
What I have been looking for lately is just a rewriter as I have lots of PLR. I also like rewriting PLR as I can control the content a bit by pre-approving what is even written.
Yeah, I would love to find someone from the Philippines but I imagine it could take some time to find someone with excellent English. I’m really picky about grammar.
I wonder if Heather does rewrites? I may contact you for her info – thanks for the recommendation.
