Well, despite the gloom of my last post I had a nice surprise this morning. The niche blog that I have been focusing on lately with backlinks has moved from #37 (page 4) to #16 (page 2) in Google. I would say it’s a fairly competitive niche so I feel pretty motivated by that progress. Now I just hope it sticks – Google has a way of shifting rankings that can feel a lot like a rollercoaster ride.

This just reconfirms the power of backlinks for me. Over the past few weeks I have really been spending a lot of my time trying to get backlinks to this niche site and my personal site. My personal site is not a good money-maker, but it does earn a steady, albeit small, income from Adsense which I have been using to reinvest into my niche site building. So I am trying to keep my personal site ranking well while also trying to push up my new niche site with the best potential (I think).

I have been waffling lately on what my direction should be since I have a few niche sites and also some new domains. Should I start some new sites or should I focus on what I have? Since I have a bit of momentum now, I think I will try to focus on this one site. Continue to get backlinks and work on content. If I could get that site on the first page of Google I hope that I would start to see some Adsense earnings that I could then reinvest into building up my other new sites.

At the moment, most of my reinvesting goes towards content minus what I blow on WSOs (Warrior Forum Special Offers – that place is addicting). But I have been having trouble finding good, affordable, and reliable content writers. I think maybe affordable and reliable are the conflicting attributes here. But I think I will save this topic for a separate post.

This is a good day. I feel encouraged by the progress and feel like a have a more clear direction, at least short-term. I will focus on this one site for now, getting more backlinks and more content. Now I will take a look at my budget and determine how much I have to spend and how exactly I will spend it.
