Got the House, Almost – Shifting Gears

May 13th, 2010 · 14 Comments · Niche Sites, Personal

Well, we finally have a signed contract on a new house. I want to be excited but the road to this point has been so rocky that we just need to get past a few more milestones and I’ll be happy. But, I do now need to revise my workload in anticipation of what is to come.

I was planning to get my two newest sites finished up with 10 pages total of content before putting them on hold, but my writer is bailing on me for personal reasons. That actually works out well as I have been worrying a little about money and have been going back and forth in my mind as to whether I should stop spending until we are settled in the new place. Originally, I was planning on paying my writer for about 10 more articles and paying for additional stuff for backlinks, but instead I am going to pretty much stop. We can use the money right now for house stuff and I don’t want to be transferring money into my Paypal account right now b/c of the mortgage process.

So for now I only have a few bucks in Paypal until early June when eHow pays out which means anything that needs to get done gets done by me. Luckily, I had a few articles sitting on my hard drive which I have already started submitting to Ezine. After that I can spin them and do some more submissions. That will keep me busy for awhile considering I won’t have much time anyway to work online. It’s only disappointing b/c I had a plan drawn up that I was excited about starting, but that can wait.

Okay, that is what I’ll be up to the next two months (anyone want to help pack?). As far as where my sites are, my CB mini-site is actually been sitting at #3 for a couple of days and I got a sale! My main niche site was sinking further and further down Page 2 until today when it was back up at #8. Good stuff. My test article on ArticleRanks has now been submitted to 18 sites – looks like it drips out slowly, we’ll see for how long. I decided to give up on Free Traffic System once I realized they wouldn’t accept inner page links. They only allow a certain url structure and since my inner pages have a .html extension it wouldn’t work, so forget them.

I think that is all I have going on at the moment. Nothing earth-shattering.

Congrats on the house and I hope everything works out the way you want it.

What is your Clickbank mini site? Did you do a sort of squeeze page or some reviews of the product or something? Anyway well done on the sale! Hopefully they’ll continue!

  • Carrie

Ruth, the CB site is just content around the niche. No squeeze or product-related stuff, more informational with a “check out this for more info” kinda thing.

Hi Carrie, great news about the house, so congrats and good luck on this running through smoothly!
I hope you can get those 2 sites up and running and making a bit of income, so while you are away from the “slog” there is something in your CB account for when you return!

    Best wishes Carrie!

Good news on seeing your sites recover in the SERPs.

Why won’t you have much time online? Because of moving or because of having to work full time still?

  • Carrie

Hey Sara – because of moving. I’m completely done working.

  • Kelly

Congrats on the house, and the CB sale. I am getting ready to do my first CB site.

I received a call from my Husband last October and I had 3 days to pack a 2500 sf-5 bd-4bth house. Thank God for Family and friends-just take it easy I would start packing slowly!

Congrats though-that is just so exciting!

Carrie – I don’t think I’m subscribed to your feed, will need to update that for my email inbox -

Congrats on the casa! And re: ArticleRanks, I found a site where they ranked their fave places to market, this guy seems to be echoing the sentiment that ArticleRanks is the place to be.

it will be interesting to see how that goes – someone was asking Mike Iser about that on his blog a while back, but Mike’s system ain’t broke so he ain’t fixin’ it…I’m still experimental, so excited to see you’re checking them out.

    How much does it cost?

  • Carrie

James, I have a post coming up on Article Ranks soon.

  • JamestheJust on Elance

I’ll buy thru your link, then – I didn’t even know they had an aff program until coming here – I’ve read good things about them, and at 1/2 or so the price of UAW, I could do both, but need to give SEOLV a run first.

My hope is to max out my article marketing within my budget – so as many blog networks as I can be a part of (so long as they’re diff. networks and not like AMA and MAN where they’re the same network) – the better.

I’m actually writing up a report to that effect, on maxing out the use of one article…only, I need to conduct the research first before I say anything further.

But it’s good to know you’re an aff w/them: definitely going to be checking your reports to see if they’re worth it. I’m hoping SEOLV picks up, but can’t complain until I’ve tried and actually conducted some research on that note.

  • Carrie

James, you can pay per post – $2 which is one of the things I like since I am low volume. It also makes it easy to test although you do need to buy $10 worth of credits per shot.

  • JamestheJust on Elance

You’ve got the sale comin. I’ll buy when I get this job squared away – I just finished it on Elance, another $825 job, a beast of article marketing – with The Best Spinner’s help…actually I was motivated to multi-task: do the review, get the refund from MAR, and finish the job.

That thing cooks, but you already know MAR works fine for spinning as well.

I’m pumped to try out multiple networks! I’m spinning it all so I can use the same articles. and re-distrubute to AR/SEOLV/UAW.

  • Carrie

Well, thanks. I’m not even sure if they pay an affil commish on pay per post but that is all I would recommend at the moment. I like it for $2 per post, I think the monthly membership is $39.

Yeah, I’m still kinda new to article marketing, but I like the idea of spinning and then submitting many places. I like the idea of UAW but can’t justify the cost at the moment, but it is on my maybe-some-day list.

  • JamestheJust on Elance

I plan on buying thru your link nonetheless – my plans include some mass marketing strategies I’m cooking up, will see how it goes.

I just got another commission check from CJ – the thing that kills me is that I got the performance incentive off a major advertiser, and then didn’t have time for more sales…but still made sales.

It kills me because though it’s nice to get $250-$300/month from CJ, it shows I have the potential to make that much more on this site.

So: more time on my biz = more sales = less time stressing about a 50-hr-workweek at a job that can’t support me, only to turn around and chomp away at the QWERTY until 2-3 am and flip around and do it again.

I’ll do that the rest of my life if I have to, but the way out of the rat cage is building more sites.

More sites = more backlinks required = taking a handful of articles and pumping them out to various directories and blogs (as long as they’re spun well enough).

You might be interested in SEOLV, then – they have a pay-as-you-go feature (or hold off as they work out the kinks), and I believe SubmitYourArticle only costs $47.oo month, not as expensive as UAW.

Gotta run, sales pages to write and I’m done with the beast job.

Hi Carrie, James, seems you’re hitting on the big time James! Gotta hand it to you my friend – what with such a busy family life and all!

This ArticleRanks sounds interesting. I can fully understand Mike Iser’s point about “if it ain’t broke, there ain’t nothin to fix” but at the same time I see no harm in trying for more and better.

Although I am in the process of cutting back on monthly fee products, I will be taking a close look at this one. That said, if you can get your aff link and article up Carrie, I may well get you a commission like James intends on doing!

    Regards to you both/all!
    Joseph
