Look at me, two posts in one day!
I set up an article on Free Traffic System yesterday (the free membership version) for the first time but the article was declined. I’m bummed b/c the first time I put in all the details I think I had the submission page open too long and lost everything. So then I had to repeat everything (like rewrite my titles) and resubmit. I probably spent 30 mins on the whole thing and the stupid article was rejected!
Now, I have heard complaints on the WF about FTS declining alot of articles. My guess as to why my article was rejected is b/c it was not completely unique. I used a spun article that I had already sent through other article submitters (article directories) so I am guessing it was flagged as duplicate content. Well, at least I know that I probably need to start with an unpublished article. I say probably b/c there is no info given on why your article has been declined, but what can you expect for free.
What I was trying to see, in addition to just trying FTS, was to see how far I could take one spun article. When I say “spun article” I mean that I spun an article in Magic Article Rewriter and then took that article with all the spin syntax and used it in Automatic Article Submitter, ArticleBot, and then tried with FTS. I was hoping to get as much mileage as possible with just one spin, but it looks like FTS won’t work. I may still try that same spun article with Article Ranks, another service I have not tried yet, but would like to.
By the way, Automatic Article Submitter and ArticleBot are my newest toys (along with magic article rewriter). Actually, I bought ArticleBot awhile back but just hadn’t gotten around to using it. Both of these programs submit to article directories, mostly lower quality sites although AAS can be used to manually submit to ArticlesBase, GoArticles, and a few other good directories. I lucked out and found it on sale on the WF for $37 and am happy so far with the purchase. But I need to go back and look for backlinks for both programs to see how successful all the submissons were.
What is nice with the two programs is that once you have your accounts set up it’s easy to just pop an article in and submit. Both handle spun articles although ArticleBot can’t handle nested spinning yet (neither can FTS). I also break down the number of sites that are submitted to on a given day to try and drip things out. It’s my poor girl’s version of UAW at the moment.
Okay, I have drifted totally off point. My reason for posting here was to ask if anyone has actually had any success with Free Traffic System. If so, any tips? I’d like to try once more with a unique article, but the 450 word minimum and the chance of having my article rejected again make me a bit hesitant.

I’ve been using FTS for a while, and I do think it is worth the effort. I’ve only had two articles rejected out of about 50 submissions so far. With both of those articles, there was a mistake made in the spin syntax, so that may have been the issue. However, they were both also product related, e.g. “How Best to Select an Electric Washing Machine” type articles – so maybe they were rejected as too promotional… I haven’t had any problem with those articles that were more general in information, e.g. “Tips for Writing a Great Article” and had perfect spun syntax.
In terms of results, I do find that about 1/3 of the blog links show up in YSE, although probably only half of those stick. I believe there has been some boost on the sites as a result of these links. I think that considering it’s a free service, the results are OK, although I’m now starting to branch out to different blog networks as I think the FTS system may be a bit too saturated. Hope this helps!
Thanks Michelle. Were all your accepted articles original or had the been published elsewhere already (like EZA)?
My articles were all original, so that may be the key with the high acceptance rate I’ve had overall. Still, I have to say I was bummed about the two articles rejected – they do take abit of time to put together, and they won’t accept them later once they have been rejected – even if you correct any mistakes.
Thanks again Michelle. If they would give a reason for rejection that would be helpful. Perhaps I’ll spin a new article and submit to FTS first and post to article directories. I’d still like to see how far I can get with one article.
Yeah, I’ve done that and it works fine. I’ll often submit to FTS first, and then to articlebot or a similar article submission system that allows spinning. If you use thebestspinner, I believe you can easily change the spin tags. Otherwise “search and replace” works well and is very quick too.
Great tips as usual, Michelle. I was going to suggest a tool someone else suggested — I want to buy it soon, haven’t yet, just read about it — called the “Indexing Tool,” a WP plugin.
It works by indexing your backlinks: articles and such, that send trackbacks to your WP site. The trackbacks don’t all show up in YSE, so they don’t seem to count as link votes — so this plugin works to get those particular pages indexed in G, then the links count…
I’ve just bought Magic Article Rewriter and won’t be buying another IM tool until I get my Elance gig done (a major client), so I haven’t bought the plugin — but it would work with article submissions.
The creator, Paul something or other, uses it to index his UAW articles. Anyway, just food for thought for getting more link juice.
I’ll be buying that tool and then testing it out. Until then, take this as food for thought, as I can’t vouch for its effectiveness…
Nice suggestion. Yeah, I get tons of pingbacks that I never see show up in google, so any tool that works with indexing those would be great. I’ll see if I can find it online…
