About 2 weeks ago I purchased 4 niche domains and 1 general domain. Starting September 26th-28th I set up the websites – I didn’t keep track of exactly when each site went live, but for most of the sites I would say it was September 27th.
Over the last few days I have added one page of content to the homepage of each site, except the general domain. I used the general domain at first to work on by WordPress template (I like to see the design live and tweak) but have no immediate plans for it otherwise.
Of course, the general domain was indexed first by Google – figures, since I have no plans for it. Today (October 3rd) two of my niche sites have been indexed in Google.
For the first site, if I search my keyword phrase (domain name) in quotes, I am at position #5 on page 1 of Google. Without quotes I am on page 3.
For the second site, I am at position #2 on page 1 of Google when I search for my keyword phrase (domain name) in quotes. Without quotes I am on page 3. When searching for this site I also noticed that this URL showed up on a site that lists expiring domain names. I need to look into this – maybe I stumbled onto a previously owned domain.
I should note that I only have one page of content on each site and no backlinks. I have a lot of work still to do, but any progress is encouraging. Now I am just anxious for the other two sites to show up in Google.
Update: October 4th – a third niche site is now indexed. I am at position #5 on page 1 of Google when I search for my keyword phrase (domain name) in quotes. Without quotes I am at position #3 on page 1 – better than with quotes?. This is the site with the most potential based on CPC (cost per click) and I just added some backlinks from older sites, so it will be interesting to see how things progress.
