Well, EZA actually approved my articles within a few hours of submission so those articles went live last night. This morning I posted articles for Site 1 and Site 2 to both Info Barrel and Squidoo. Now I have to wait for Info Barrel to approve my articles since I am still under the 10 article minimum for posting without approval.
In the meantime, I have bookmarked my two EZA articles and my two Squidoo lenses at IMAutomator where I have a free account. I’ll do the same with the Info Barrel articles once they are live. I could also bookmark with SocialBot, but I think I’ll hold off on that for now for no particular reason.
I am doing something a bit different than I have in the past. Usually when I post articles or lenses I don’t use my main keywords to avoid having my articles/lenses competing with my sites. But I decided this time to try and target the same main keyword to see where my 3 main properties (EZA, IB, Squidoo) rank figuring it’s better to compete against myself than someone else on Page 1.
But because of the niches and the article topics I had written, the Site 1 articles are using the same keyword in force, the Site 2 articles are a bit more slipped in. So for the Site 1 articles my main site keyword is in the title of the articles on EZA, IB, and Squidoo. But for Site 2 I only have the title in the Squidoo while the other two articles just use the keyword once in the text. So if any of the articles rank I expect it to be for Site 1, but we’ll see.
I still need to spin an article for Site 2 then I will be ready to start submitting for backlinks to my 3 supporting sites (per Site1/2). And I still haven’t figured out how I’ll break down the links (since for the article blasts it is just two links usually) and what my anchor text will be. I’ll think about it a bit.
The rankings today are about where they were when we started: Site 1 = #15 and Site 2 = #312 (fell back down). So the EZAs coming online had no effect.

It might be premature to conclude that the EzineArticles have had no effect. I find that my EzineArticles aren’t always indexed immediately (bookmarking can help with this) and even when they are, it can take a couple of days for them to be “counted” as backlinks. Hopefully that is the case, and you’ll see some movement in a couple of days.

I have already submitted 2 EZA articles for each of the two sites with no effect so I’m not expecting much to happen. Hopefully the backlinks to the backlinks will push things along.

No. They are just social bookmarks so I don’t expect much.
